I know it's still early, I mean, it's only July, but Christmas will be here before you know it. My fiance and are finally moved into our new home and the one thing that's on my mind is getting our first Christmas tree. Christmas is my favorite time of year; it's such a happy and cheery time. I'm already trying to think of Christmas decorating ideas. I know I shouldn't be thinking of all this because I should be looking at ways to decorate the house now, not for Christmas.

Along with that, I'm of course thinking of Christmas tree decorating ideas too. I have so many ornaments from my childhood that I brought to the new house. It's just a matter of if we want certain colors and themes on the Christmas tree or if we want random things. I personally have great Christmas tree decorating ideas. All of the ornaments I have are from when I grew up. I travel once in a while, so I pick up an ornament from that state or island. I've also made a ton of ornaments when I was younger, as do most kids during school.

The Christmas decorating ideas I have are great. I've already gone shopping a few times to pick up some really cute decorations. I have this tiny chair that's decorated with Christmas paints that stands about 15 inches tall, it's so cute!

I have no idea where we'll put it, but you know I'll find a spot for it. And of course I found these really cute wooden people. I bought a boy and a girl that will go great on top of our fireplace. In a way, they kind of look like us too.

Some other great Christmas decorating ideas I have along with thousands of other people are the Christmas wreaths. I bought a few that were made out of red and silver bells. It also has glitter on them, which makes them sparkle. Some of the plain bells I bought will make for great Christmas tree decorating ideas. You can never have too many bells hanging on the tree.

I also like to add some candy canes to add a little extra something.There's one thing though that makes Christmas the special holiday that it is. Every year my family gets together with all

the kids. We sit in the living room and pass around our stockings so everyone has a little something to open before we get to all the presents. It's just a magical time watching everyone's eyes light up and just be happy because we're with family. That's one thing I'm looking forward to this year with my fiancé. It's our first Christmas together in the same house. It's going to be very exciting waking up next to him Christmas morning and just saying "Merry Christmas."

Those stockings are a must-have for the Christmas decorating ideas. Christmas just isn't Christmas without the stockings hanging from the fireplace. I'm not even sure if we can hang ours, but there will definitely be a special place for them.

And although we don't have any Christmas traditions yet, this year is going to be that year. We'll have so many great memories and I'm sure there will be one thing that we will love so much we just have to do it every year.

Notify Your Tenants in Advance

Give yourself thirty days to focus and take action on fire prevention at your properties. Send each tenant a written notice about fire prevention during the holiday season. Inform your tenants.

The Wonder of Christmas

There are some conversations which for some reason or other we will never forget and though they held no great importance in our lives, it is just the same that our memory will not delete them as they made us see something that perhaps had always gone past our attention. It was back in the month of December in the year of 1985 that I had such a conversation while still a student at "The Tutoring School of New York" with a fellow student. A young lady to be exact and though I forget the name of this person I remember her as a nice girl who just happened to be a school mate of mine. The day was the last day of school before Christmas break and I do recall being on my way home or wherever I was heading that day after school under the influence of some champagne, which one of the teachers had brought to celebrate the start of the Christmas vacation.

It happened while I was on my way out of the building with my best friend at the time, Paul Rao (Italian American like myself) and as we were both biding farewell to all those whose spirits matched the one of the season while at the same time spreading Christmas wishes that a fellow student was coming in to the building. Moved by the feelings of good cheer delivered to me not only by the Champagne but Christmas I said "Well, good bye and have a merry Christmas" to this young lady whom I was acquainted with (not that I had much a of choice as ours was a school of only 80 students) but was not really a friend of. This young lady however rather then reply to my desires for her to have a merry Christmas with her own simply said "I am Jewish" with a rather serious look on her face which for the first time made me stop to think; "What of it?".

It being then that I; with the best of intensions to spread my good wishes to all, excluding none said "Well, try to have a merry day on Christmas; doing what ever it is you do if for no other reason then just to be happy". I could tell by the look on her face and the reaction of those around me that this was the last thing anybody had expected me to say but I also could sense that those who had heard me in a way agreed with what I had said about Christmas. After all there is some kind of magic about Christmas that goes beyond religion and even faith in God or Jesus and in to something which in my opinion has more meaning and that being love of humanity and that which we know as true kindness, that seeks not reward from God but its own merit and that of creating a nicer world for all to live in.

Christmas, in conclusion I would say is many things to different people and has had a tremendous influence over the whole of society in more ways then one that include films, music, literature and so much more but to me above all Christmas has always been about coming together as people and putting differences behind at least for the time that is Christmas. In my mind, if nowhere else; it does not matter weather one believes in Christ or not or if the carpenter's son, who was named Jesus really lived or if he in fact was the "son of man". For what does is that during this time there is a feeling that makes people nicer to one another and come together in to one group that accepts all regardless of anything else that might have separated us through out the year. It is almost as if on this day and the time that leads up to it people smile more as happened on that day when I wished that Jewish girl a merry Christmas. A girl who if my memory serves me well replied with a slight laugh "well thanks, I'll try and a Merry Christmas to you to" as she walked past me.

Synopsis: In the thick of World War I, German, French, and Scottish troops converge at a fierce battlezone on the deadly Western Front. All that separates their respective trenches is several meters of open field called "No Man's Land," where dozens of soldiers lie dead from previous skirmishes.

As Christmas approaches Nikolaus Sprink (Benno Fürmann), an enlisted German private and renowned tenor, is called away to perform for a group of officers in an occupied region away from the front lines. There he is reunited with his wife Anna (Diane Krüger), a famous soprano.

Committed to his fellow soldiers, Sprink is given permission to take Anna back to the front for one night in order to sing for his weary comrades in the hopes that they can forget the war for a short time.

But their efforts have a greater effect as both Scottish and French troops are enchanted by the sound of their voices. Soon the battlefront commanders from all three camps leave their trenches and meet face to face.

After German lieutenant Horstmayer (Daniel Brühl), Scottish lieutenant Gordon (Alex Ferns), and French lieutenant Audebert (Guillame Canet) organize an unauthorized truce, soldiers from all sides set aside their differences and share a moment of peace as they celebrate the holiday together.

But soon superiors from all three countries learn of the illegal cease-fire and threaten severe consequences for all. Will the bond between newly formed friendships among enemies last, or will the soldiers be forced to pick up arms against each other again?

The Good: Foreign films often have a certain style and depth to them that we don't usually find in Hollywood, and this one is no exception.

Inspired by documented events that actually occurred at front line trenches in the December of 1914, Merry Christmas is a heartwarming yet sobering film about the best and worst of humanity during war.

Instead of jumping on the anti-war bandwagon and repeating tired cliches directed towards a specific nation (like ours), director Christian Carion, without political grandstanding, stays focused on the nature of war in general and the depths of human compassion and hatred.

Subtle references are also made to the mindset that would eventually lead to the Second World War, as well as the dangers of underestimating, and denying, the numerous complexities of armed conflict.

Powerful in its imagery, performances, and messages, Merry Christmas is a true cinematic gem.

The Bad: Although the scenes in which Diane Krüger and Benno Fürmann sing are very good, their voices are dubbed by professional vocalists (Natalie Dessay and Rolando Villazon, respectively). The lip sync is noticeably off in areas, and even though it's not enough to make you think of old Kung Fu movies, it made me feel sorry for the editor.

Who would like this movie: Nominated for an Academy Award in 2005, I'd recommend this foreign film to anyone who appreciates mature, solid storytelling. Merry Christmas is a moving, dignified, and memorable tribute to soldiers, who, lest we forget, hate war more than anyone else.
